The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) was recently for their launch of 无忧短视频, a digital patient engagement platform used by leading hospitals and health systems across North America to deliver virtual care for patients before and after surgery via personalized education, to-do lists, progress-tracking, and remote patient monitoring. As part of Ontario Health鈥檚 ongoing initiative to leverage technology to tackle the COVID-19 surgical backlog, RVH is joining many other reputable healthcare organizations with the launch of 无忧短视频 to digitally support patients undergoing Hip, Knee and Shoulder surgery. Patients at RVH can access 无忧短视频 via smartphone, tablet, and/or desktop computer while healthcare providers can remotely monitor patients on dashboards in real-time allowing for personalized care recommendations and quicker intervention from the surgical care team if necessary.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

The next step involves the creation of patient education videos broken down by specific topics (e.g., pain management, hip pre-operative, etc.) that contain all the information taught in-person education classes. They will be uploaded directly to the RVH website for public access.

鈥淭he app allows our patients to receive focused education at the right time in their surgical journey,鈥 says RVH Surgery Program Medical Director Dr. John Rissanen. 鈥淭his will help patients manage their surgical recovery with the ongoing support of their surgeon and other health care providers via 无忧短视频.鈥

Patients who do not wish to use the app or access websites for videos will receive all the necessary information in a hard copy patient handbook and be connected by phone with Ortho Patient Navigators who can assist them with any questions.
